This is a two-part tip:

Several years ago, when I purchased a Swiffer-type mop, I also purchased a few flannel cloths to use instead of disposable ones. They work well for cleaning up dust and hair, but not so well on crumbs. So we use those for sweeping the bathroom floors, but not in the kitchen. They’ve been through the wash many times and still work like new.

For the kitchen floor, I’ve been using disposable cloths. They work great! However, this doesn’t seem like the most frugal option. Quite by accident, I discovered something. Out of habit, I scooped up the used disposable cloth with the laundry. I noticed it when I took it out of the washer, and I hung it up to air-dry. It’s fluffier than it started, but it’s still textured and it works. I don’t think I’d wash it a second time, because it might just disintegrate all over the other laundry. But it is, at least, a way to double the value of these disposable cloths.
